Changes and Licking my Wounds

I haven't actually written a blog post since a lot of things changed for me. As you may be aware I opened a shop in Brogdale Farm back in 2022. I was hoping that I could combine selling some of my work and that of other local artists with running the textile workshops that I love doing. It worked well for a while, business was picking up but then in the winter of 2022, the combination of my father in law passing away and all the admin that that entails, my mother becoming more dependant on me and the upcoming break clause in my contract made me decide to call it a day a little under a year from the date I opened, in June 2023. It was a devastating blow both mentally and financially. I can honestly say it has taken me all this time to be brave enough to start again.
Luckily for me my friends at Made in Ashford and Emergency Exit Art, welcomed me back to the shop and a good many of the community art projects that they run. I carried on selling my wares in the shop and via Etsy but things were not as good for me as before. I think the stress of everything finally caught up with me and I ended up being sick over the spring and summer of 2024 and couldnt make a few of the project but thats the way it goes, horrible to let people down but it can't be helped.
I have taken other jobs for extra money but nothing really gives me the thrills as much as the art world and the people who inhabit it.
We have additionally spent the last 12 months refurbishing our London house, we will be moving back there in the summer - I have adored living in Kent but my husband needs to go into the office more regularly so as a couple we will be moving back until we retire.
I have exciting plans for the future of Tania Paige Designs. I will be moving into my old Studios at Thames Side Studios near Woolwich Dockyard, from here I will be creating and selling my artwork, printing T Shirts and suchlike and running lots of workshops from the wonderful education space.... as well as completing a fine art masters degree.... I do hope that anyone in the are will pop by and say hello. I will be posting details of the ongoing move right here.
I realise that this seems like a self indulgent post I will be more positive from now - its just been alot.....
